Darren, the older of the two Young brothers, is seen as a leader on the park, reflected when Ebbe Skovdahl entrusted him with the captaincy of Aberdeen when still only in his early twenties.
After taking time to settle at East End Park, Darren has managed to make himself an important part of the Pars first team, playing an important role in both the making of the Pars attacking moves and the breaking up of opposition attacks.
Despite being used mainly as a defensive midfielder, it is widely felt that Darren has been at his best for the Pars when the shackles have come off and he has been allowed to roam forward.
Darren's second-half of the season form played a vital part in the Scottish Cup run and has given Pars fans hope that he will play a big part in what promises to be a very successful season for the Pars.
