COOPER LEAVES HARTLEPOOL BY 'MUTUAL CONSENT'

Pars job becomes available. Cooper becomes available. Coincidence?
Neale Cooper yesterday (Wednesday) left his post as manager of Hartlepool United by 'mutual consent' prompting rumours of a move up north for the ex-Pars player.

Cooper - a much-touted favourite for the vacant Pars manager's job - left his job at the English League One club amid claims that the Hartlepool board were unhappy with Cooper constantly being linked to jobs in Scotland.

Despite doing an excellent job at the League One club Cooper was only a month-to-month rolling contract, a factor alone which constantly led to rumours of a move elsewhere for the ex-Ross County manager.

After spending many successful years at the Pars in the 90s Cooper's name was instantly linked with the Pars job when the Hay regime left on Monday.

Despite declaring his admiration for Cooper as a manager, Pars chairman John Yorkston has denied making any approach, stating his desire to concentrate on the relgation battle.

Neale Cooper's appointment as Pars manager would undoubtedly please a large section of the Pars support who would welcome the idea of a young, ex-Pars man as new gaffer.
